In August, Jane Haworth shared her quilter’s journey with us. She began in England as a textile arts student who sold rag rugs she had designed in open markets. When she journeyed to America her textile passion turned to quilting and after learning the long way of creating a quilt by fussy cutting strips for a log cabin with scissors (see the beautiful result in the slide show below), she began to create art quilts. Her inspirations are many, from a series on amphibians and lizards, to Hawaiian scenes of fish and whales, to striking portraits of Mother Theresa and the Afghani girl from National Geographic. Currently she runs a T-shirt quilt business on Etsy, creating artful memory quilts from old t-shirts, and will teach a class for us next month on doing a “Bookcase Memory Quilt.”
